The Champs-Elysée are dressed for the feast with hundreds of lights which embellish the most famous boulevards of the city. Every year the Lafayette Galleries arrange some thematic decorations of the building façade and interiors, with a pompous and suggestive explosion of lights and colours. All shops and streets are decorated with Christmas gifts and Advent calendars.

You would never expect this from a modern and avant-garde district such as the défense, but the Christmas atmosphere is really contagious, and when the night falls and the lights go off, this austere district transforms into a delightful Christmas Market. The entire area lying under the beautiful crystal and iron arch, which represents the heart of the district, is tinged with magic, and the stands offer every sort of gifts, decorations, ethnic objects, sweets and delicacies. Absolutely to try the sandwiches filled with melt cheese. The Défense is also a good place to buy some traditional French products.
